Course Details
B.A. L.L.B. is an undergraduate Integrated program that leads to a Degree in Bachelor of Arts-Bachelor of Legislative Law. The syllabus of the five-year course over a span of ten semesters at A.K.K New Law Academy, Pune comprehensively covers various aspects of Arts and Law and is conveyed in English medium only. Thus in the first two semesters students are introduced to the general principles and theories of varied subjects of Arts, namely English, Sociology, Psychology, Politics and a bit of Economics as well. The next semester begins with learning legalese and then moving on to understanding law in the context of literature, economics, international relations, etc. in the fourth semester. Semester five in the third year opens the door to aspects of civil and criminal laws. The fourth year of the course delves deeper into family laws, constitutional laws, property laws, human rights, ethics, etc. The final year's syllabus includes The Code of Civil Procedure and The Code of Criminal Procedure and the choice to select one of four or five optional papers in the last semester.
Practical Papers: In terms of practical training, the students prepare legal documents, undertake pre-trial preparations, and learn how to be part of the trial proceedings through Moot Courts. Through such practicals, students develop analytical thinking skills, logical reasoning, and effective communication skills.
A.K.K New Law Academy, Pune course hours: Every week there will be a minimum of 30 class hours, including tutorials, moot court exercises, guest lectures, and seminars. The classroom lecture hours are at least 24 lectures on a weekly basis.
Evaluation: A student of the B.A. L.L.B course at A.K.K New Law Academy, Pune must have 75% attendance, failing which he/she will not be allowed to appear for the semester-end exam. 80 marks are for the written exam (the exam is as per the norms of the affiliating university) and 20 marks are given by the college for internal assessment. There are also compulsory practical training subjects and a viva voce exam for these, for which the division or marks can be referred to in the official brochure of the syllabus given above.
Eligibility Criteria for B.A. L.L.B Admissions
Passed the Senior Secondary School (+2) exam or equivalent exam from a recognized institution/university with a minimum of 45% marks (relaxation of 5% for students applying in the category of scheduled castes and scheduled tribes).
