Course Details
The M.Sc. Agripreneurship & Value Chain Management is a full-time postgraduate course of two years' duration. The curriculum of the Master's degree course focuses on the ecosystem of agriculture and the management of the food value chain. On the academic side, you will learn how to use charts, graphs, and other analytical tools for obtaining an insight into the effectiveness of proposed policies and their subsequent result, understand the benefits of value chain management, learn about good farming practices, understand allied aspects of agri-business, etc. On the practical side, field exposure will provide hands-on experience to deal with, and overcome, ground-level challenges in real-world scenarios. You thus develop problem-solving skills. During the first and second semesters, you have to undertake in-house or field project work. An optional summer course with an international university in Europe is also on the cards for the 2021-23 batch of students completing the first year of the course (there is a separate fee for this summer course).
What's more exciting is that not only will you learn to identify futuristic trends in entrepreneurship in the fields of agriculture and food and how to start a business, but will also get support for a startup in terms of incubation and mentoring, with the opportunity to work with successful startups as well.
There is a varied scope of this course in terms of career opportunities. You can become a successful agribusiness leader or entrepreneur, get recruited as a value chain expert, take up administrative roles in an agro-based enterprise, etc.
Note that students who join this course from the Arts or the Commerce stream will be enrolled for a bridge course so that they get a foundation for this M.Sc. course.
Eligibility Criteria for M.Sc. Agriculture Admissions
A graduate from any stream can apply to the M.Sc. Agripreneurship & Value Chain Management program, with admission given on the basis of merit. As per the norms of the State Govt. and the guidelines of the Gujarat University, 50% of the seats have been allotted for students who have graduated in the Science stream, and 50% for those who have graduated from other streams. Reservations are as per the norms of the State Govt.
