Course Information
M.Phil is Masters of Philosophy and with specialization in Social work it deals with all the social aspects including Social work, human nature, human relationships, social problems, their solutions and many more.
The course is designed with some objectives like to make candidates able in conducting research about social situations, issues and their problems, to create awareness about something socially and to initiate, co-ordinate and promote social work activities.
Students learn to understand, monitor and even improve the society in the best possible way. The candidates learn about consultation and assisting institutes in terms of social, socioeconomic and community related issues.
Eligibility
Candidates holding Master of Social Work ( MSW ) degree from any recognized institute or affiliated university are eligible for this course. The minimum qualifying marks may vary from institute to institute and candidates must inquire about the same before submitting their application form.
Admission Procedure
The admission procedure includes various options as follows-
- First option is through entrance examination. Some institutes conduct entrance examinations and the final selection of the candidates will be depending upon their performance in entrance examination.
- Another option is through NET or any other national level examination. Candidates who has scored good ranks in such exams are directly accepted for the course in some institutes.
- The last option is direct admission which is applicable for Distance learning mode of the course may follow the same way of admission.
Duration
The duration of course varied from 1 year to 2 years in regular mode. The mostly accepted format includes 1year of theoretical studies and 6 months of research work.
Further study options
M.Phil is a research based program and interested candidates may continue their studies by pursuing PhD (doctorate of Philosophy) in the same field.
