Industrialization has its pros as well as cons. It not only helps in building economies but also provides for employment and livelihood. On the other hand, it has its downside too. It takes a heavy toll of the environment. Natural resources get depleted. Energy production and its distribution becomes all the more expensive. It is thus essential to optimize our energy consumption and reduce the expenses. The field of energy management and audit additionally helps the environment by reducing the carbon footprints due to optimal utilization of energy resources. For a country like India which is heavily dependent upon imported oil, the field of energy management provides for huge scope for employment and livelihood.
