Introduction to the Self Help Group

Self help group (SHG) is a two decade year old well known concept. It is a small voluntary association of poor people who come together from the same socio- economic background. This group serves the purpose of solving their problems through self help for one another. It has a role in economic development of the country. The group has now evolved as a movement which mostly comprises women. SHGs are formed by NGO"s and other agencies financed by banks.
