Overview
Marine engineering is a branch of engineering which is related to knowledge of marine vessels and structures such as boats, ships, oil rigs etc. It is also related to oceanographic engineering. It is one of the applied engineering sciences which integrates different disciplines such as mechanical, electrical, electronics engineering as well as computer science and information technology to develop, design, operate and maintain the watercraft propulsion, on-board systems and oceanographic technology.
Eligibility
Candidates must have passed Higher Secondary (10+2) examination with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics.
Duration
The course duration is of four years. It is divided in to eight semesters. Each semester consists of theoretical and well as practical subjects.
Course syllabus
In the entire curriculum, you will be taught about the principles of marine engineering, processes and techniques used in marine engineering, physics, chemistry and mathematics involved in marine engineering an lot more. You will learn about computer programming, computer graphics, basic electrical and electronics engineering, engineering mechanics, and Marine Engineering thermodynamics. You will also gain knowledge about Marine Hydraulics and Fluid Machinery, Marine manufacturing technology, Marine refrigeration, various types of marine engines, ship construction and many more related to the field. Apart from the theoretical knowledge, you will be given practical exposure in computer aided drafting and modelling, marine hydraulics, machine welding, heat engines and boiler chemistry, afloat training, fire fighting, control and simulator techniques etc.
