Overview
Control systems engineering has taken the world by a storm. The rapid developments in the field of electronics has resulted in control systems taking a pride of place in every industry and engineering system. Most manufacturing in the factories these days are through control system engineering. Whether it's a plane or a spacecraft, they are benefited because of control systems. Every modern engineering today utilises the principles of control systems for their optimum working and utilisation. In the coming days electronics control system engineering is going to be much more instrumental in controlling every aspect of our life. So it's obvious that there will be greater employment opportunities in this field. As of now it is one of the most coveted degree that students love to acquire.
Eligibility and course duration
Pass in 10+2 with physics, chemistry and math with good percentage. Selections are mainly through entrance tests and merit.
Duration of the course is 4 years.
More about the course
In control system engineering you learn how the principles of control theory are utilised in devising a system that provides with desired behaviour and results. It's through mathematical modelling where inputs, outputs and various other components interact, resulting in desired behaviour. The auto pilot of an aircraft is one such example, where devoid of the disturbances in the air the aircraft maintains it level, direction and speed as is set by the pilot. By undergoing this course the students get to understand the basics of control theory and by the end of the course they are able to apply appropriate principles to analyse, interpret, design, modify and build a system that behaves as desired.
Some of the topics in the field of study are engineering design, electro-mechanical systems, circuit theory, system control, engineering mechanics, instrumentation, computer programming, nonlinear dynamical systems, multivariable control systems, matrix computations and so on.
Job opportunities
For an electronics control system engineer, jobs are available in a wide array of industries. Jobs are available in the aviation sector, aerospace, robotics, automobile engineering, manufacturing industries, food processing, rockets and missile development and the defence sector. They get to work on a number of electronic systems that are used so commonly. Some of the job profiles could be control system engineer, systems engineer, network planning engineer and so on. You have the opportunity for further studies by enrolling for an M.Tech or MS course and go for further research if interested.
