Since ages, the oceans have been providing us with the means for connecting with people across the continents. At the same time, it has been providing us with valuable resources, either in the form of food or mineral resources. A lot more resources are still to be unearthed from the depths of our oceans. In the years to come we are likely to be more dependent on them for our survival and progress. The way we are overusing our marine resources, there's an urgent need to protect them. Further utilization should be in a sustainable way only. This course prepares you for the challenges which mankind today faces in conserving the coastal and marine environment.
Eligibility and course duration
A Science graduate in Zoology, Botany, Microbiology, Fisheries, Environmental Science, Biotechnology or any other branch of Life Sciences.
The duration of this postgraduate course is 2 years.

This interdisciplinary course provides you with an in-depth knowledge of the role of economy, technology, development activities and public concern has over marine biological resources and the coastal environment. The course imparts you with the necessary skills to evolve effective and cost efficient methods of utilizing the coastal and marine resources. An application oriented course, it focuses on conducting researches in marine science with emphasis on conservation, management of resources and sustainable development. The course enthuses today's youth towards marine and coastal resource conservation, by linking environment protection to human welfare. Other than classroom activities, the curriculum provides you with various opportunities to learn from a variety of activities, like case study analysis, guest speakers and field trips. The students get to visit water bodies, fisheries research institutes and marine ecosystems.
