Course Detail
Bachelors of Arts with specialization in Jainology is a theoretical course with an objective of encouraging Jain unity by providing opportunities for interaction between different Jain communities and organizations. Candidates learn about faith in Jainism, its different communities and their relations.
Eligibility
Any candidate who has done his/her 12th can pursues this course. Being not in demand, there are no restrictions about age or previous specialization for this course. The minimum passing marks required may range between 50% to 55% as aggregate in 12th standard.
Admission Procedure
The admission procedure is very simple and includes submission of duly filled application form. It must be enclosed with all other required documents like previous qualification mark sheet copies, identity proof document, application fee, etc. There is no entrance examination for this course and admission can be secured on first come first serve basis. Some institutes may create merit list for admission.
Duration
It is a graduation degree with duration of 3 years in regular mode. It can be more than 3 years for candidates who are pursuing it as distance learning mode.
Further study options
Candidates can continue their studies as Masters Degree with same specialization and can pursue Masters of Arts then M.Phil and lastly PhD. The doctorate degree will give them excellent job options afterwards. A Post graduate Diploma in Jainism is again a good option for candidates from this field.
Candidates interested in teaching can pursue B.Ed to have good career in the same line
Course highlights
The course includes languages- Hindi and English and also learn about literature. Another part of course includes study about Jainology, Agam Vidya and Prakrit Literature, Sanskrit Grammar and Literature, etc. Subjects like Jainism and other Philosophies, Political Science, Science of Living, etc are included in all the 3 years.
Candidates also learn about history of this religion, Nonviolence and Peace, Jain Religion and its antiquity Time-Cycle, Lord Mahavira and his succeeding traditions, Jain Culture, Jain Festival, Jain Art and many more.
Job aspects
The job options are less immediate after BA course but once you are done with your Post graduation or PhD, you can work in institutes offering this course, you can work in Jain organizations and communities as manager.
