Course Detail
This theoretical course is started with an aim to spread its principles of anekant, ahimsa and aparigraha all over the world. The course is aimed to give efficient Jain scholars who will understand the solution for world's peace. The course also plays an important role in translating and editing of Jain canons and commentary literature. The course is also available as distance education course.
Eligibility
Candidates who have done 3 years graduation in any discipline are eligible for this course. There is no restriction for specialization and age. The minimum qualifying marks for admission may vary from institute to institute and candidates need to check the same before submitting their admission form.
Admission Procedure
The admission procedure includes submission of filled admission form enclosed with all the other required documented. It is advised that a candidate should check his/ her eligibility before submission of form as application fee is always non refundable.
Duration
Just like all other post graduation courses; the duration for this course is also 2 years. These 2 years are divided into 4 different semesters; each semester is having 6 months duration.
The duration for distance learning course may vary and need to be checked at the particular institute.
Further study options
After successful completion of post graduation, candidates can go for M.Phil and then PhD. courses. These research based courses will enable them to study about any of the topic of their interest from the field of Jainology.
Other than this, they can also pursue short term literature course to have career in writing. B.Ed is an option for those who are having interest in teaching.
Course highlights
The main high lights of the course are study about life and work of Tirthankaras, Acharya Parmpara, Jain Darshan, Jain Inscription in India, Jain literature, Art, Architecture, etc. Candidates also learn about various branches of Jainology, role of Jain community in Modern Perspective, position and Status of Jain Women and much more.
The later part of the course includes Contribution of Jainism to Indian Culture, Jain Philosophy, history of Jainism, Jain Religion during Muslim Period, etc.
Apart from Jain specific courses, language- Hindi, English and Sanskrit and their literature are also included in this course.
Job aspects
Candidates can join teaching as their first choice. Other options are Jain organizations, Jain trustee offices and hospitals, etc. They can also work as a content developer, translator and writer for Jainism.
