Overview
Naval architecture is concerned with design, development, construction and maintenance of boats, ships and a host of other marine vessels including offshore structures. Naval architecture is applicable for both civilian and military vessels and structures. The naval architects are chiefly responsible for planning and construction of the ships and other marine structures. Since ship building involves everything, including civil, mechanical and electrical works, a naval architect needs to understand other branches of engineering and must be well versed with computer aided design and manufacturing too..
Eligibility and course duration
Pass in 10+2 or an equivalent qualification. Admissions are through entrance tests like JEE Mains and are also sometimes followed by personal interviews. The marks in 10+2 should not be less than 50%. Candidates need to be medically fit with respect to height, weight and sight. Whether male or female, age of candidates should be less than 25 years.
Duration of this undergraduate course in naval architecture is 4 years.
