Introduction to Bachelor of Physical Arts (Music)
Music is chronological organization of sounds. Sounds make melodic, rhythmic and harmonic sense. The course introduces to different kinds of meters, rhythmic techniques for obtaining basic competency for giving performances and in creation of music. The course is designed for students who want pursue music as their career and as a passion. The program combines theory aspects and musical applications. It includes study of basic theory, aural skills, history of music, foreign language and applied performances. The students would be exposed to demonstrate skills in performance and musicianship. It also helps them to acquire fine supporting competencies. Students develop artistic skills combined with intellectual missions.
Eligibility for the course
A candidate who has completed 10+2 from recognized university is eligible. The candidate should posses previous experience in music and ability to read music. Student should have patience to practice for long hours.
Additional Information About the Course
The course aims at developing the abilities of singing, harmony, orchestration, composition and conducting. The program imparts knowledge to apply creative performances and develop individual interests in their chosen areas. It exposes them to practice, study and analysis of music and musical instruments, voice production, perception, pitch and timber characteristics. Lectures and lab work are designed for familiarization of music elements for successful performances. The course develops student awareness for giving a shaped musical recitals. The students would be developing holistic and integrated assignments and projects. It involves the students in group assignments and self directed projects.
The syllabus covers applied lessons, principal performing medium, theory and aural skills, music history, keyboard skills (basic and advanced) recital, focused inquiry and social behavioral. It introduces them to world of musical styles, covers private lessons plus daily practice combined with learning harmonic and melodic structure. Topics include introduction to music, creating and harmonizing melodies, principles of notation, music and emphasis on creative aspects. The focus is on development of cognitive, listening skills through guided listening to recorded music, lecture, lab and knowledge of keyboard skills.
