Introduction
Telugu is an official language of Andhra Pradesh and considered as one of the Dravidian languages of India. Some parts of other neighboring states like Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Orissa also use this language.
M.Phil is a research based course where candidates find opportunity to complete a short term project after going through the details available for them. During this course, they learn about Telugu literature, Grammar, Drama, literary criticism, etc. in detail.
This course can be pursued as full time regular course as well as through correspondence. In later case, candidates need not to attend the classes regularly and can study on their own. They just need to qualify the examinations.
Eligibility
Candidates having a valid post graduate degree in Telugu are eligible for this course. The acquired marks should be in range of 50-55% during post graduation.
There is no age restriction for this course and candidates can enroll for this at any age.
Admission Procedure
Admission can be taken by submitting filled application form before due date. The form must be enclosed with all other required documents like copies of degrees, certificates, caste certificate (if applicable), etc.
There is no entrance examination for this course and admissions are either direct or on merit basis.
Duration
The duration is 2 years which are equivalent to 4 semesters (each having 6 months duration). In case of course through correspondence, the duration may vary.
Further study options
After successfully completing M.Phil, candidates have option to continue their studies by enrolling them selves for PhD. It is a long term research based course where candidates need to study the available literature and conduct research on selected topic. PhD. in academic profile always gives preference in career.

This course includes topics like Origin and History of Telugu literature, its advancements and evolution, texts, drama and much more. Candidates also learn about Telugu Grammar and literary criticism. Some part of General linguistics, Sanskrit/ structure of modern Indian languages and modern Telugu literature is also included in the course.
Candidates develop their writing and verbal skills in Telugu and as a last par of their course, they need to submit a small thesis or report for dissertation they complete in their last semester.
