The post graduate degree is designed to develop research skills in students to conduct policy relevant research in Reproductive and Sexual Medicine. Additional Description Of the Course (M.H.Sc)
The program equips students with demonstration skills in literature review, critical analysis and application of research outcomes. Students would be able to distinguish effective reproductive and sexual health services. They gain knowledge of economics, ethics, issues related to reproductive and sexual health. Training would be imparted to identify the issues and implement services for betterment of health. Adequate theoretical and practical knowledge would be imparted to students in computer and study skills. The course enhances students English skills for using library resources for reading programs related to health care.
The curriculum includes lectures, seminars, group discussions, practicals, team work,field visits, oral presentations, stimulation exercises, self directed learning, research based learning. Students should present thesis/dissertations, essays, written coursework, assignments, exams( written and practicals) project works and case studies, with continuous assessments.
Syllabus covers foundations in reproductive and sexual health, family planning, health care education, disease control and prevention, health policy, issues related to motherhood, perinatal health, AIDS, population survey and analysis, principles of social health economics, public health, medical anthropology, designing disease control programmes, population studies. Instruction also covers, social responsibility, statistics, poverty and environment, social epidemiology , sexually transmitted diseases.
