More about the course

The course is an interface of mathematics and computer science and provides you with advanced training in both the fields. On one side you learn about numerical analysis and on the other you pick up skills in creating algorithms. You will be concentrating on those areas of mathematics that are relevant to computing like the ones on number theory, algebra, general topology, combinatorics and mathematical logic. Similarly from computer science too, you will be picking up skills in quantum computing, computational complexity and concurrency. These are topics that have relevance to mathematics. Other than theoretical aspects of the course you will get the opportunity to work on the practical aspects. Based on your work you will have to write a dissertation that has to be submitted at the end of the course.

Jobs and opportunities

This is a suitable course for those you wish to either enter the industry or pursue research in mathematics with an element of computing involved in it. One can also get into the field of research in computing sciences. In this respect it will be useful to first pursue an M.Phil or PhD program in the concerned field. With a qualification in mathematics and computing you can very well have a job in most IT companies asking for skills in this field.
