the eligibility criteria for taking admission to this course is 10+2 Science (Compulsory subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Maths ) / JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) Exam score/ Institute level entrance exam. Diploma holders from Mechanical can apply directly to the second year of engineering.

Course overview:
The Mechanical Engineering branch is one of the most traditional branches of engineering and has and will always be in demand. The objective of this undergraduate course is to prepare skilled professionals for taking leading positions in industry to design, develop, produce and manufacture, repair and maintain devices (microscale sensors and inkjet printer nozzles) to large systems (automobiles, spacecraft, machines, aircrafts etc.).
Course Details:
As a part of the eight semesters, the students undergo basic subjects like physics, maths, applied chemistry, applied mechanics, engineering drawing etc. The second and the third year covers the core subjects the branch like thermodynamics, Heat engines, strength of materials, fluid mechanics, manufacturing technology, production and operations management, IC engines, automobile engineering etc. The course includes theory, tutorials and practicals. In the final year the students opt for one or more elective/ specialization of their choice. Project is an integral part of the engineering curriculum wherein the students propose an idea or identify a problem and apply the concepts learnt. Some colleges offer internship. .

Graduates completing this BE course have ample career opportunities in manufacturing /production industry in both government and private sector organizations. Mechanical engineers are in demand in automotive, aerospace, biotechnology, computer and electronics, energy conversion, automation and manufacturing industry.
