Introduction
Junior Diploma is the next step after certification. The specialization- 'Persian' deals with all the details related to Persian language, culture, people, etc. Many people also address Persian as 'Farsi'. Persian is an Iranian language and as its name indicates, it is mostly used in Iran and some parts of Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Iraq, Russia and near by geographical places.
Candidates pursuing this course study about everything related to the language, its history, origin and advancements.
It is a theoretical course and improves verbal as well writing skills of candidates.
Eligibility
If a candidates has successfully completed his/ her SSC or HSC examinations and have pursued Certificate Course in Persian from any recognized or affiliated institute then he or she is eligible for this course.
If a candidate has prior knowledge of Persian language, he/ she can get direct admission in Junior Diploma by qualifying Entrance test.
Admission Procedure
As mentioned above, the admission is direct for candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria. In that case, they only need to submit the filled admission form enclosed with all other required documents and admission fee.
In some cases, where a candidate has prior knowledge if Persian language; institutes offer them admission for junior diploma without pursuing Certification. In this case, they need to clear the entrance examination for Junior Diploma.
Duration
The duration for this course is 1 year in regular mode and it can be extended for candidates pursuing it through correspondence.
Further study options
This course has may options if candidates are willing to pursue higher studies. They can go for Regular Graduation in MA with specialization in Persian, Post Graduate Diploma, then M.Phil. PhD is again available for aspiring candidates.
Candidates interested in teaching can opt for B.Ed.
Course highlights
It is a language course and candidates learn to read, understand, translate and write in Persian. As it is a Junior Diploma, candidates get a good reading practice and for that they have some reading books like The Capital of Iran, Jadeed Ketab-e Farsi, etc.
For writing, they learn to translate Persian texts into English and vice versa, essay writing in Persian language, letter writing, and many more.
Some parts of geographical areas like Iraq, Iran, etc are also included in the course and candidates need to learn about their history.
