Introduction
M.A is a post graduation course having its full name as 'Masters in Arts'. The field of 'Marathi' deals with all the details about Marathi language. Candidates learn about Marathi language, famous literature, its origin, history, changes, evolution and may more. They also learn about famous writers and poets of Marathi and their life in detail.
The course is completely theoretical and can be pursued as regular or as a correspondence.
Eligibility
All candidates having Graduation degree in Marathi (B.A Marathi) are eligible for this course. Candidates having prior knowledge of Marathi or have done Certification/ Diploma in Marathi are also eligible for this course in some institutes.
The minimum qualifying marks may vary and ranges between 50-55% for most of he institutes. There is no age restriction criteria for this course.
Duration
The duration for this course is 2 years or 4 semesters. Candidates need to pass each semester separately to get the degree.

The admissions are offered directly or on merit basis for all graduates in Marathi. For special cases, there can be an entrance test.

After completion of this post graduation degree, candidates can go for M.Phil and then PhD. PhD is a research based doctorate degree and candidates get opportunity to conduct their own research on the topic of their interest under the guidance of their supervisor.
