Introduction
PhD. is a doctoral level course which is considered as the highest academic degree f any specialization. The field of Arabic deals with classical and modern Islamic details and its understanding. Candidates learn about details of Arabophone culture, modern and pre-modern periods and its history.
This course can be pursed as regular course or even through correspondence. In the later case, candidates just need to enroll themselves from one university and appear in the exams. They need not to attend the classes on regular basis.
Admission Procedure
Admission can be obtained on direct basis by simply submitting the application form with all other required documents. Some institutes short list the candidates on merit basis and some institutes conduct an entrance examination for admission. This is to check the prior knowledge of Arabic in candidates. In last case, candidates performing well are short listed for admission and the same can be final after attending a short interview.
Eligibility
A candidates having done with his/ her post graduation with keen interest in Arabic are eligible for this course. Some institutes prefer candidates from Arabic back ground or candidates having prior knowledge of Arabic.
There is no restriction for minimum qualifying marks and age.
Duration
The duration for PhD is not very strict and candidates can complete the same in 3-5 years depending upon their topic of research. In some special cases, it can be further extended with prior permission from supervisor.
Further study options
PhD is the highest degree and candidates can get good job options after completing their PhD successfully. If a candidate is still interested in continuing research, he or she can do that through Post Doctorate degree. It is same as PhD but as it can be pursued only after PhD, it is named as 'Post Doctorate'.
