Introduction to Course Bachelor of Sanitary Science (BSSc)
Sanitation science deals with the study of public health, hygiene in community and health improvement principles. The degree course aims at providing knowledge on sanitary science to improve sanitation in human community. The curriculum includes intensive training through classroom lectures, field visits, project works, assignments, online learning, hands on experience, networking, research, and assessments. Eligibility Requirements for the course BSSc
The candidates who have completed PUC/10+2 in science subjects from a recognized university are eligible. The students should posses good logical and communication skills for interaction with public.

The course in sanitation exposes students to designing, planning, implementing procedures or processes and maintenance facilities in sanitation. The course helps students to learn about elimination of refuse in the locality, prevention of health hazards and disposal of sewage. The program emphasis on developing safe disposal of waste to avoid health hazards and preventative measures to be implemented to address health issues.The study topics includes structural theory and design , sewage and drainage, public health, engineering mathematics, sanitary science, ground water, soil pollution, plumbing, fire protecting, microbiology, ecological sanitation, sustainable sanitation, environmental issues and climate changes.
Syllabus covers study of food and nutrition,classification and importance coding of balanced diet, nutrition survey, education and importance, therapeutic nutrition, occupational health and hygiene, water and air sanitation, water sources, shallows and deep well, protected well, inspection of water supply, purification of water, measures to reduce air and water pollution, refuse disposal, WHO's definition of environmental sanitation, safe and whole some water, concepts of ventilation, purification process, green house effect radiation, evaporation, solid waste disposal.
