Course description M.Tech food technology, food laws and policies
The post graduate degree program is of two years duration and aims at providing intensive knowledge on engineering methodologies on food processing and preservation techniques. The course trains engineers to become efficient professions to face the challenges existing in the food technology sectors. Students get equipped with latest strategies and techniques for problem solving issues and help in better quality to tackle the situations. Training imparts the students with knowledge on technical know-how for applying technology in food sectors, gain practical experience for food automation process, CAD and food quality and safety.
Eligibility CriteriaThe candidates should have completed B.E/B.Tech in food technology/food science with 60% from a recognized universityThe students should possess high standards for cleanliness, be motivated and confident.Should be able to work in teams and possess strong skills in communications. The program provides extensive knowledge on foods components such as chemical functions of food and its properties. The course enables them to understand in-depth knowledge on food preservation, storage and in food quality. Training imparts knowledge of sensory effects and nutrition quality. Program enables them to understand food regulatory mechanisms in the country, learn about rules and laws pertaining to food that governs the manufacture, import and export procedures, storage, food distribution and sales. Instruction enables them to examine food sources and products and analyse them. They are trained to check the adulteration of foods and for Agmarks. Students get acquainted with analytical procedures for examining food processing and food quality food control. Instruction is provided in the areas of food supply, safety and conducting experiments on detection on GMO(genetically modified organisms.The course focus on various aspects on planning, processing and implementing the strategies Training involves in examination for various food items a such as cereals, pulses,meat. The curriculum covers theory lectures, practicals,conducting experiments, demonstrations, assessments,projects, practicals, hands on experiences, presentations, seminars, publication in conference, group act ivies, designing teaching leaning materials, mock teaching sessions, quiz.The study subjects includes food processing, food packaging, advance food chemistry, food plant design, food microbiology, food entrepreneurship in food sectors, food-biosensors, etc.
