Course Description
The post graduate degree course aims at imparting knowledge on planning, designing, land development and management techniques. The program focuses on implementation of strategies for water management in agricultural sectors. The emphasis is laid on maintenance of varied water systems in agricultural fields. The curriculum includes course study materials, seminars, demonstrations, theory lectures, practicals, workshops, dissertation, field visits, assessments and examinations. Training is imparted to students with latest scientific and technological procedures for implementing the application process in the relevant fields. Students are trained with identifying the critical issues related to water systems and solving them. They are exposed to water management techniques, agricultural land and conservation of water for judicious use.

Additional Description of the Course
The program helps students to understand the water resources and the different functions of the water systems. The course emphasis on sustainable water resources planning and management. The study focuses on changing climate conditions and its impact on agricultural production. Students are exposed to surface and subsurface water resources and develop skills for computing and techniques for applied knowledge for problem solving issues in production of crops. The course requires students to visit water resources projects and field officers deliver the lectures on the spot for water management. Students are trained in varied techniques and latest technologies in academic activities for commanding area developmental works. The curriculum includes group discussions, report submission, diagnostic analysis of canal system and research projects.
Ground knowledge is provided in concepts of land protection and conservation of water in different climatic zones. The course exposes them to various approaches for identifying the faults in water systems and in problem solving methods. The students are equipped with knowledge for applying the practical aspects of implementing effective water management. The study course includes statistics, advanced engineering mathematics, applied hydrology, soil water relationship, agricultural land drainage system, tube wells, ground water development, soil and water conservation, watershed development, agricultural meteorology, waste land development, irrigation system, water quality assessment and pollution control.
