Course Description
The advanced degree program study aims at providing aspects of irrigation and drainage engineering and water management. The students are exposed to concepts of watershed management, surface and ground water resources. The program provides in-depth knowledge about irrigation and drainage for students to become competent professionals to face challenges in the needed field. The course equips students with techniques and methodologies for applying the relevant fields. Training covers areas of soil water resources and develops skills in planning, designing and developing equipment's for irrigation purposes. Training covers areas of soil physics, soil maintenance, weed and soil control. The course helps in thinking abilities and logical skills. Curriculum covers theoretical lectures, practical, seminar, assessments, dissertation, field /industrial visits, examinations and project work.
The candidates should have completed B.E/ B. Tech from a recognized university. Students should possess interpersonal skills and apply latest technologies in field of irrigation.

The course imparts in-depth knowledge in irrigation, different types of irrigation and management of drainage of agricultural land. Study exposes students to statistics, advanced engineering mathematics, hydrology, fluid mechanics, irrigation methods, machinery, watershed development, soil salinity and water quality and irrigation management. Training provides students with skills in developing farms, enhancing productivity with efficient management of irrigation methods. Students understand principles and strong fundamentals required for designing new machinery in agricultural sectors. The course enables them to learn about farm practices and strategies for reducing pollution and helps in enriching resources through efficient mechanisms of drainage systems. Students need to carry out research related to irrigation drainage and present thesis. They have to participate in training in latest technologies for applied testing in methods of irrigation systems such as sprinkler irrigation method, drip irrigation and furrow irrigation methods. The program exposes students to exhibitions, symposiums, consultancy and projects works. The students gain knowledge in techniques for saving crops, different types of irrigation and the yields. Applied knowledge on low cost pipes for water flow irrigation systems for better yields and quality with high monetary returns.
