Introduction
Bachelor of Divinity is abbreviated as B.D.. It is a special course designed with a purpose to train youngsters for various ministries related to church like pastoral, missionary service, teaching ministry, etc. It also teaches about advanced study in the field of theology and many other Christian services.
Eligibility
The eligibility criteria has different forms. Candidates having Bachelor degree in any stream like B.Sc., B.A., B.Com., etc from any reputed or affiliated institute are allowed for this course.
Candidates who have done Bachelor of Theology abbreviated as B.Th. degree are also eligible for this course. In this case, candidates having grades above B- or higher with minimum 2 years of practical experience in ministry can have direct admission in 3rd year of course.
In some institutes, there is a special criterion for mature candidates for admission. It includes admission for mature candidates who are merely 10th passed and could not complete their higher education for some reasons, are eligible for this course after performing good in Mature Candidate's Examination
Admission Procedure
Admission is direct for those who are eligible for direct admission. Some institutes conduct Mature Candidate's Examination for mature people of more than 25 years of age and candidates performing well in that exam are also allowed for the course.
Duration
The duration for this course is 4 to 5 years depending upon the institutes, mode of course and previous qualification of the candidates. In some special cases as mentioned in the eligibility criteria, candidates can get direct admission in 2 or 3rd year of the course.

This is course is complete package which includes Remedial English course for candidates having weak English. The main course has different parts like Old Testament, History of Christianity, New Testament, Christian Theology and Ethics, etc. It also teaches about Christian Ministry, Pastoralia, Religion and Society, Missiology, Christian Education and may more.
The candidates scoring good in examinations are required to write thesis of around 10000 to 12000 words. Candidates who are not writing thesis need to complete the 2 optional courses to complete their degree successfully.
