Overview
Occupational and Industrial Health combines clinical medicine and public health together . The branch of medicine is important as it brings medicine, engineering and several other disciplines expertise together. The course has been designed and developed to identify and manage the occupational health disorders and diseases encountered in various industries. The course trains the professionals to manage the industrial injuries caused by chemical intoxication. In the course, the candidates also learn about the various preventive and control measures of such occupational health problems.
Course Duration
The duration of the course is three months.
Eligibility
The candidate must possess MBBS qualification and must be registered in MCI. The candidates must also have one year of experience in the industry or relevant field of occupational health.
Course Fee
The course fee varies between Rs. 25000 to 40000, depending on the institutes.
Course Syllabus
The course curriculum includes learning modules which incorporate history and development of occupational health, Public Health and Social Welfare. The curriculum includes learning process of sanitation, purification of water, drinking water supply, waste disposal, various occupation health disorders and occupational diseases, lung diseases, industrial hygiene and safety, industrial psychology, work philosophy, etc.
Apart the theoretical knowledge, candidates are also provided practical knowledge of various medical equipment to be used for Lung function tests, Audiometry, Vision testing , E.C.G., Bio-chemical & pathological investigations, routine & special, I.L.O. radiographs, dust counting, use of personal sampler & measurement of noise, heat illumination and ventilation, anthropometry. Each candidates has to undergo clinical training, education visits, seminars and projects related to discipline.
Career Prospects
After completion of the course, the candidates may join as Factory Medical Officer in any industry all over India.
