Overview
Embedded system is a fast growing industry that is finding applications in a variety of fields including consumer electronics, avionics, energy, automotive engineering, defence, medical equipment, telecommunication and a lot more. There is a rising demand for professionals having expertise in this domain both in the country and abroad. As an embedded systems engineer you will be into designing, developing, fabricating, optimizing and debugging embedded electronic systems for a variety of industrial applications. You will be bridging the gap between hardware and software designs by effectively incorporating complex software controls in the hardware itself. With their control and communicating mechanisms intelligent machines and devices have been produced. Many such devices are of common use today such as television sets, printers, scanners, microwave ovens, mobile phones, etc.
Eligibility and course duration
A bachelors degree in electrical, communication, electronics, instrumentation or computer science engineering. Work experience in the relevant field is preferable. Admissions are on the basis of entrance tests or GATE scores.
Duration of the course is 2 years.
More about the course
The masters program in embedded systems help you understand the principles behind designing of intricate and complex software systems for a variety of industrial use. The course help you learn algorithms that go a long way in understanding the intricacies involved in integrating hardware and software engineering. Your knowledge on both software as well as hardware is improved. You learn of the various designing methods, documentation processes and the protocols. Other than that you get to learn of emerging concepts like Internet of Things (IoT) and their fast growing applications in our day to day dealing at our residences, offices, public places and almost everywhere. From home automation to security and many other things, embedded systems along with IoT are set to bring revolutionary changes in every aspect of our lives.
Career opportunities
Needless to say, embedded system technology is one of the fastest growing in the electronics domain. There are numerous jobs especially in the IT field in the country as well as abroad. With smart homes, smart offices and even smart cities coming up everywhere the potential for growth is very bright. It is estimated that in the years to come billions of devices will get connected with the world wide web and there will be countless human to machine and machine to machine interfaces that will automatize most things. Research programs like PhD are the possibilities after this course.
