B.Sc. Statistics is a Bachelor of Science is an undergraduate course in Statistics which includes three year duration. Statistics is the study of collecting, analyzing, organizing and interpretation of data. Mathematical statistics is also a discipline that is concerned with the theoretical aspect of the subject.
Eligibility Criteria
The basic qualification for pursuing B.Sc. Statistics course is a pass degree in 10+2 or Higher Secondary Examination in Science stream with Mathematics as one of the core subject and from a recognized college or university.
Though, it has been noted that the eligibility criteria may differ from institute to institute. Some institutes are known to accept students from any stream (Arts, Commerce or Science) who have studied Mathematics in 10+2.
Course Duration
The duration of B.Sc. Statistics course is 3 years which is divided into six semesters, with each semester lasting for a period of six months.
Admission Process
Reputed and well known institutes follow merit based admission process. For merit based admission process, the marks scored by the students in 10+2 board exam and / or relevant entrance exam are taken into consideration. A merit list is thus formed based on the marks of the candidates. Seats will be allotted only to the deserving candidates depending on the cut off marks. Some institutes can conduct their own selection / entrance test.
