Course Description of Ph.D Kayachikitsa
The doctor of Philosophy course is research program of three-four years duration. The course is designed to prepare students to become scholars in Kayachikitsa, it imparts in-depth knowledge in general medicine. The program provides instruction in the areas of neurology, cardiology, nephrology and mental diseases. The curriculum includes seminars, theory lectures, clinical discussions, practical classes and hands on experiences with health care services in geriatric patients. The program enhances the skills of intellectual capabilities and communication skills of the students.
Eligibility criteria
The students who have completed masters degree course in Ayurveda in relevant subject from a recognized university are eligible. The university has to be approved by the Central Council of Indian Medicine. The students should have keen interest in pursuing research work and translating it into ayuvedia medicine. They should be focused and have ability to understand different methodological approaches in conducting research work.

The procedures involves therapeutic approaches and counseling. Students understand the various research methodologies and different forms of medication which includes tablets (vati), decorations (kashays), powders(churna) etc. Students are trained in enhancing communication and clinical skills to face challenges arising in the field. They learn to apply the knowledge in daily life. Training equips them with critical thinking and enables them to understand the best practices of therapeutic medicines of Ayurveda. The course enables the students to become scholars in Kayachikitsa.
