Course Overview
M.tech or Master of Technology in Computer science is a 2 year long course. The break up of the course is in 4 semesters. The people who have completed B.tech in dtreams related to computer science are eligible for this course. After passing M.Tech in Computer Science you are most likely to get a chance in the IT hubs all over India. Let me discuss the course eligibility here.
Eligibility to join this course
You are required to have a B.Tech. degree before you can take up the admission form in M.Tech. Now this B.Tech. degree could be in either of the streams related to computer science, for example,
a) B.Tech in computer science and engineering or
b) B.Tech in software engineering or
c) B.Tech in hardware engineering or
d) B.Tech in Electronics.
You must obtain minimum 55%-60% in your B.Tech.course to get a chance to take up the M.tech forms. Some universities allow people with 55% marks and others are a little bit stricter.
Along with this the university holds its internal admission examination and a subsequent interview to select candidates for M.Tech course.
Other important points to discuss
One thing that I would like to mention here is that along with B.Tech people, universities also accept people who hold Master's degree before joining this M.Tech course. Normally M.Sc. in computer science are the first choices for admission in this course by the universities. The other master degree holders get a preference after M.Sc. computer science people.
But all this come after you clear the admission test set by the university.
You will have to check the university websites regularly. Sooner or later they will publish the advertisements for admission in M.Tech computer science. Then you need to take up the admission form from the university. In few weeks the university will notify you to come for the admission test. If you clear this admission test then only you will get admitted in the M.Tech course.
Availability of jobs
After you pass this course, you will get a chance to sit for campus recruitments of various companies. At that time the companies will look only for the minimum cut-off score from your academics. Once you have scored above their minimum cut-off, they will judge you on your knowledge in computer science.
