Course Description of M.D Panchakarma
The Ayurvedic Medicine is an Indian traditional medicine which has been passed on from generations. The doctor of medicine in Panchakarma is three year course as approved by Central Council of Indian System of Medicine. The program aims at preparing students to become competent professionals in the field.
The master's degree in Panchakarma is a clinical course which includes five methods of body purification. The program covers the aspects of purification therapies of Ayurveda and provides understanding of principles and purification methods. The training imparts theoretical knowledge and practical experiences to prevent diseases and to improve community health. The course is designed to equip students with concepts of improving community and treatment of various diseases. The program enhances students self confidence and interpersonal skills for treating patients.
Eligibility Criteria
The students who have completed bachelor's degree in B.A.M.S from a recognized university are eligible for the course.

The master course includes five therapeutic procedures and the study covers chikista and its classification, shadvidha and Dvividha. The students are trained in applied aspects of trividha, shadvidha, ashta and dasha vidha pariksha. The course imparts knowledge of applied anatomy and physiology of cranial and peripheral nerves and brain. Emphasis is laid on understanding of various functions of single muscles and groups of muscles. Students learn about applied anatomy of physiology of joints. Practical hands on experiences are provided for methods of physical examination of central nervous system and locomotory system. Students equip with knowledge on applied anatomy and physiology of cardiovascular and respiratory systems. Training provides students in interpretation of spirometry and ECG findings. The program provides comprehensive knowledge of karma definition, importance of panchakarma in health and diseases. Exposure is provided in areas of koshtha and Agni, knowledge and expertise in handling of equipment's and instruments used in panchakarma. Focus is laid on research areas and equips students with importance of purva and pashihata karma in shodhana and provides adequate knowledge in various aushadha and ahara kalpana used for panchakarma. The course study covers performance of long and short karma, panchakarma procedures, instruments and spotting, viva, case records of patients, ward theater.
