Introduction
M.Sc. is a Post Graduation level Masters degree with many different specializations from different streams like Medical, Science, Home Science, etc. The specialization of Medical Statistics is the one among them from the stream of Medical Science. Through this course, candidates get trained to work as professionals in the field of statistics or ca say as 'Statisticians'. The course includes all the aspects of study like theoretical studies, Practical sessions, Practice sessions with special references to epidemiology, clinical trials, laboratory research, etc.
After completion of this course, candidates become able to apply suitable statistical techniques for medical data management, to use various software packages for analysis of statistical data and its management, to interpret results after analysis, etc.
Duration
The duration for this course is 2 years in regular mode. These 2 years are divided into 4 semesters with equal duration of 6 months each. The complete syllabus of the course is also divided into 4 parts accordingly.
Eligibility
Candidates holding bachelors degree are eligible for this course. The acceptable specializations are Dental Sciences, Medicine & Surgery, Veterinary Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing Sciences or any other related subject.
Candidates from Bachelors degree in Science, Agriculture, Engineering, Arts, etc are also allowed to pursue this course with a condition that they must have a strong grip over Mathematics.

The admission can be offered by some institutes. Some institutes may short list the candidates on merit basis to offer them the admission for this course. Some reputed institutes may conduct the entrance test for admissions. In that case, candidates performing well will get short listed for admission.
Further Study options
