Introduction
M.Tech or Master of Technology is one of the Post Graduation courses in the field of technology. The specialization of Cyber Security includes study in all ways like analytical methods, theoretical and practical aspects, industry practices, system architectures and academic ideas. Candidates learn about all the details of Cyber Security, its frontier areas, practice, management, including technology and all the related policy issues.
The course has 4 main sub categories named as- Language-Based Security, Enterprise Wide Security, Hardware and Embedded Systems Security, Data Center Security. It also deals with authorization, authentication and access control techniques.
Eligibility
Candidates holding Graduation degree in technical stream, that is B.E. (Bachelor of engineering) or B.Tech (Bachelor of Technology) from a recognized or reputed institutes are eligible for this course. The minimum qualifying marks should be 60% for most of the institutes.
Admission Procedure
For admission, interested candidates need to submit the duly filled application form enclosed with all the other required documents before last date. The application fee in prescribed format should also be enclosed with the form.
Most of the reputed institutes conduct their own entrance test to short list the candidates for admission. Some institutes also consider the performance of candidates in national level examinations like GATE.
Duration
The duration for this course 2 years. These 2 years are divided into 4 different semesters; each having 6 months duration. The whole syllabus is also divided into 4 parts accordingly.
Further Study options
M.Tech is a professional course after which candidates can get a good job easily. If a candidate still wants to continue his or her studies, PhD is an available option for them. It is a research based course associated with excellent job options and it does not have any age restriction for most of the institutes.

The course starts with basic topics with Applied Algebra, Digital Hardware Modeling, Internetworking, security, Problem solving technique, etc. Candidates also learn about Information Theory and Coding, Cryptography, database and application security, Mobile and wireless network security and many more.
Algorithms in Cryptography ad cryptographic protocols are important part of this course.
The course also has some elective subjects and one minor and one major project to be completed within the stipulated duration.
