Introduction
Diploma in Chemical Technology is a short term course and many times addressed in its abbreviated form of DCT. Chemical Engineering is one of various branches of Engineering and it deals with a combination of Chemistry, Physics,
life Sciences including Microbiology, Biochemistry and other related subjects. Mathematics and Economics are also playing their roles in this stream. Candidates learn about the detailed process of converting the raw material to chemical into its valuable or useful form. The course also supports the students to understand the chemical engineering principles, various experimental activities, etc during the course which helps them in future.
Eligibility
Candidates who have completed their 12th examinations with at least 45% marks in Science and Mathematics separately are eligible for this course. 12th must be done from a recognized board and should have studies English till 10th standard (Basic knowledge of English is mandatory.)
Admission Procedure
Admissions can be availed directly by approaching the institutes administrative office. Candidates need to submit the filled application form, other required documents and application fee before last date of application submission. The institute may offer direct admission on first come first serve basis or may short list the candidates on merit basis.
Duration
The duration for this course is 2 years after 12th. There are few institutes which are offering this course even after passing 10th examinations. In that case, the duration is 3 years for diploma in Chemical technology.
Further Study options
There is a lot of scope of study for those who are willing to pursue higher studies in the same field. Candidates can go for Graduation or Bachelor of Science in Chemical Technology, Post Graduation or M.Sc., Post Graduate Diploma, etc as per their choice. Once the post graduation or equivalent degree is completed; PhD can also be pursued to have a scientific career.
Candidates interested in teaching can go for B.Ed and then M.Ed.
