M.Tech is a post graduate course with full name as Master of Technology. The specialization of Wireless Sensor Networks and Applications is designed to generate skilled professional to work in the field of wireless networks. The course teaches all about Computer Science, Wireless Communications, mobile computing, Computer networks, embedded systems, etc. Details about signal processing, sensor networks, multimedia systems and related applications like landslide detection and environmental monitoring are also included in the course.
The course makes the candidates suitable to work in different sectors like earth sciences, computers, disaster management, communication networks, e-governance activities, chemical industries, nano-technologies, etc.
Candidates who have passed their graduation in technical stream with at least 60% of marks as aggregate from a recognized institute are eligible for this course. The preferred specializations are Electrical Electronics Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Instrumentation Control Engineering, Electronics Telecommunication Engineering, Information Technology and Electronics Communication Engineering.
Candidates already having master’s degree like MCA, M.Sc. Computer Science or equivalent can also pursue this course as double master’s degree.
Admission is mostly offered on the basis of performance in entrance examinations. Interested candidates need to submit the filled application form, other required documents and application fee before last date. After that, they need to appear in an entrance test. Institutes then short list the candidates depending upon their performance in the same. Some institutes consider the score secured in national level entrance tests like GATE.
The duration for this course is 2 years or 4 semesters. It cannot be pursued in part time mode or through correspondence.
Further Study options
After completion of this course, the available option for higher studies is PhD. It is a research based course with no age restriction and interested candidates can enroll for the same as per their suitability.

It starts with some basic topics like Design and Analysis of Algorithms, Fundamentals of Wireless Communications, Basics of Digital Signal Processing, Probability and Graph Theory and Advanced Computer Networks.
