Course Description of B.Sc Plant Biotechnology
The degree course is three years duration, it prepares students with foundation in plant biotechnology and provides a career pathway. The course deals with the study of application of biotechnology in the varied sectors. . The study focuses on imparting in-depth knowledge of plant growth, physiology, genetics,. pathology, development of crop plants for food, feed and other industrial uses. The program enables then to equip with techniques and technologies for cop development. Training provides students with skills required for identifying and developing technological strategies for quality crop development. The study covers the areas of basic botany, cell biology, biotechnology application, physiology, plant ecology, molecular biology, bio writing. Emphasis is laid on practical sessions, laboratory work, project work, practical classes and hands on experience in training period.
The students should have passed course in higher secondary (10+2)/ PUC with Physics, Chemistry and Biology from a recognized State board.
