Overview on the course
B.Sc. in biotechnology can be opted for a higher secondary degree only. Even if a candidate already possesses a graduation degree in science, then also he or she can get admitted in this course. Graduation in biotechnology is a three year course.The fee generally varies between Rs.60,000-80,000 per year. Let me discuss the eligibility criteria below.
Eligibility criteria
- Firstly, you must be a higher secondary degree holder and that too in science stream
- If you have a degree equivalent to higher secondary degree, and in science stream, then also you are eligible to apply for this course.
- Some people have Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as their subjects in higher secondary. Some colleges allow this combination while taking admission in B.Sc. in Bio-technology. Most colleges allow candidates who have obtained 65% or more in their higher secondary with Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
- Another thing is that almost all colleges hold admission tests for B.Sc. in biotechnology course. The test consists of questions from subjects of higher secondary itself. People who score high in this admission test get a chance to study this course.
Additional details of the course
You have to study the course for 3 years. Some colleges have semester system. The rule of semester system is that if you fail in more than 2 subjects in that semester then you will be considered as a failed candidate of that semester itself. You must sit for that semester again. The course fee is generally within a lac per year or per 2 semesters. This includes tuition fee, canteen fee, hostel fee(if any), etc.
