Introduction

Eligibility

To become eligible for this course, candidates need to be Master's Degree holder in the same field. So to pursue PhD in Chemical technology, a candidate should be a Post Graduate in the field of Chemistry (M.Sc. in chemistry, M.Tech in Chemical Technology, etc). The minimum qualifying marks should be at least 55% as aggregate and degree must be completed from a recognized institute.
Candidates have prior experience of research are preferred for this course.

Duration

Duration is 3-5 years and can be extended for a valid approved reason.

Further Study options

A Post Doctorate degree can pursue after PhD.

• Through National Entrance test- The Entrance test for PhD are getting conducted twice a year in India. These are conducted by CSIR and UGC organizations and candidates scoring top ranks are eligible to admission for PhD in reputed research institutes through government sponsored projects.


• Through Institute level entrance tests- Many reputed institutes like MIT, VIT, NIT, etc conduct their own PhD entrance tests every year to select the candidates depending upon their performance in that examination. Through this, candidates may or may not get the scholarships.


• Through Project- Candidates can initially join a project in any research and after performing satisfactorily, they may request the administration to extend that project as their PhD work and after getting approval, they can enroll for PhD.


• Through other options- This category includes many other options like self sponsored, part time along with teaching assistantship, etc. These categories are mostly not associated with any kind of scholarships.

Course Highlights

This course has 3 main parts- reading literature, conducting research and then writing thesis mentioning every detail of the research work done by the candidate. Candidates need to give presentation at the end which is termed as Defending PhD.
