The Plastic Technology field is concerned with the processing, design, development, and manufacture of plastic products synthetic materials. This graduate course is designed with the objective to provide basic concepts, hands on practice and a project and thus prepare skilled professionals to make a career in plastics industry.
Course Details:
The four year Bachelor's course comprises of eight semesters comprising of basic and core subjects like applied physics, applied maths, applied chemistry, applied mechanics, engineering drawing, heat and mass transfer, plastic processing, polymers, process engineering, manufacturing technology, plastic and product and mould design etc. The students can opt for elective/ specialization in the final year along with project. Some colleges offer project +internship in the final semester.

Candidates completing this degree course have vast scope in areas of plastic technology, polymer technology, oil and natural gas, petrochemicals, textile technology, automobile, thermal engineering, transport sector, household appliances and goods, packaging, electricity, telecommunication etc. The graduate can work as a designer and processing technologist, plastic testing technologist, plastic mould maker, mould designer and processing technician.
Higher studies:
Graduates can opt for ME or M Tech in Plastic Engineering or MBA.
