Introduction
M.A. is Master of Arts and is a Post Graduation level course in Arts stream. It has many specializations and Mass Communication is one among them. It deals with core journalism and teaches about various means of source of information through mass media. It is related to study about news papers, radio, Magazine publishing, films and televisions.
Candidates with confident personality, excellent communication skills, good convincing power, good writing skills and presentation skills are suitable for this course. They should also have patience to accept the criticism and to make suggested changes to have good outputs.
Eligibility
Candidates who have their graduation in any stream are eligible for this course. Graduation must be completed from a reputed institute and should have scored at least 60% marks to get admission in some recognized institutes.
For some institutes, there is no age bar for this course but few may have and need to be checked before submitting the application form.

Admissions are direct or on merit basis in most of the institutes and only few of them may conduct entrance examinations to short list the deserving candidates depending upon their performance in entrance tests.
Duration
The duration is 2 years for this course. The complete syllabus is divided into 4 parts and need to be completed in 4 semesters. Each semester is having 6 months duration.
Further Study options
After completion of M.A. in Mass communications, interested candidates can pursue M.Phil and then PhD. These courses can be done in same or related field like Journalism.
