Eligibility Criteria

As mentioned earlier, the students need to complete MBBS before applying for this course. The admission is based on merit and it is conducted as long as the seats are vacant. Although it is not mandatory, but students who have practiced as a general physician for 3-4 years can also apply here. Experience in the medical field will carry extra marks while scrutinizing the admission applications. So you can also think of studying this course after practicing for a few years as an MBBS doctor.

Higher Studies

The best course to study after this diploma would be an MD in Pathology. If you specialize in pathology, then you can diagnose the diseases and prescribe the solutions even better. You will have to first select the universities where you wish to study an MD in Pathology. After that, each university will conduct an entrance examination in their own format. You will have to clear that entrance examination. Only after clearing the test you will be able to study this MD course.

Job Prospects

• Initially you can join as a junior intern in any hospital or nursing home. Your job will be to just diagnose the patient properly. If you gain seniority, you will have to treat those patients as well.
• After a few years as an intern, you can join any private nursing home as a venereal or skin specialist. You can also open a private chamber, at your house and diagnose patients.
• You can become medical professors after around 10 years of experience.
