Overview


A steward is a person who looks after the comforts of the passengers or guests mostly in a plane, cruise liner or a train. They are also employed in a number of institutions in the hospitality sector and also in colleges, clubs and offices to look after the supply and availability of food. Some of the terms by which they are popularly known in the professional field are flight attendant, cabin attendant, cabin staff and so on. Mostly male members are associated with the term of steward and they are equivalent to the female term of air hostesses.

Eligibility and course duration


Since the job of a steward involves a lot about dealing with guests and passengers, it is most essential that you are well groomed and educated. A minimum qualification of 10+2 is thus essential for establishing oneself in this field. With higher qualification, you will have better scope for work.

Duration of the course is mostly of 6-12 months.

In courses involving training for stewardship, one gets to learn how to provide service to the guests and passengers. One gets to deal with supply, storage and serving of food. One learns about taking care of the premises and the various equipment and accessories associated with the comfort and safety of the passengers.
