Overview
Sheet metal work is a vocational trade where one gets to design, fabricate, assemble and install sheet metal fabrications into products and equipment. A sheet metal worker also repairs and services the various products that are made up of sheet metal. A few such sheet metal products are air-conditioning ducts, drain pipes, control boxes, etc. The job of a sheet metal worker involves cutting, rolling, bending and straightening sheet metal through fabricating machines. They use tools and equipment such as hammers, blocks and anvils over which the sheet metal is shaped. Welding and soldering of joints, grinding and smoothening the rough edges and the seams is also part of their job. Most of these courses are offered by the ITI institutes located across the country.
Eligibility and course duration
