Introduction
M.Tech is a post graduation course in technical stream with its full name as Master of Technology. M.Tech is Image Processing teaches about method of image processing and its applications. Image processing is basically a method to convert any image into its digital form. It is required for some operations on it which in turn gives an enhanced image or some useful information from the image. In this whole process a kind of signal dispensation is done where the image is considered as an input. It can be a photograph, a video frame, etc and the out put can be an image or different characteristics associated with that particular image used as an input.
Eligibility
Candidates who have pursued Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Technology from a reputed institute and have secured at ;east 60% marks as aggregate are eligible for this course.
Candidates having prior knowledge about the subject are preferred.
Admission Procedure
Admissions are mostly done through entrance examinations. These can be of national level, state level or institute level. Candidates performing well in exams get short listed for an interview and final selection will be done on the basis of over all performance of a candidate.
Duration
The duration for this course is 2 regular years. These 2 years are divided into 4 semesters. Each semester is having 6 months duration and ends with final examination. Candidates need to qualify each semester separately.
Further Study options
After completion of this course, candidates are eligible for getting good reputed jobs depending upon their skills. If candidates still have interest in studying further, PhD is an option. It is a research based course and can be pursued at any stage.
Course Highlights
The course teaches about basic human anatomy, digital image processing and its applications, physiology, pathology, etc during the initial phase of course. Then candidates learn about biomedical instrumentation, medical imaging, telemedicine, pattern recognition, machine intelligence in medicine and many more such topics during the course.
Some lab sessions are also there to have better understanding about medical imaging, image processing and telemedicine.
The course includes a short term project at the end of the course and candidates need to submit the thesis before ending to successfully qualifying the course.
