Introduction
Bachelor of Arts or B.A. is an undergraduate course or we can say it as a graduate level course. The subject- Combination of Music is an advanced course which teaches about many different forms of music and instruments. The course includes and even integrates various aspects of electronic performances, electro acoustic music, music technology, etc and teaches about critical and practical facts about the same. Candidates learn through both theoretical and practical ways and course also includes learning experiences through performances. This enables candidate to understand about written and verbal contextualization.
Eligibility
Candidates who have completed their 12th standard examinations successfully from a registered institute and recognized board are eligible for this course. Candidates from Musical back ground are preferred by many institutes.
The criteria for minimum qualifying marks and age need to be checked fm the selected institute before submission of application form.
Admission Procedure
Admissions can be direct, on merit basis or through entrance test. Only few reputed institutes conduct entrance test to validate the knowledge of candidates and short list the candidates depending upon their performance in the test.
Duration
The duration for this course is 3 years just like other graduation course. These 3 years are divided into 6 semesters, each having 6 months duration.
Further Study options
After completion of B.A or Bachelor of Arts, candidates interested in higher education can go for Master of Arts in combined Music or any other subject related to this. After post graduation, M.Phil and then PhD can also be pursued on the topic of interest. B.Ed and then M.Ed is for those who want o have career in teaching line.
Course Highlights
The course, as its name says, teaches about various forms of music, their combinations and different instruments. Candidates learn about classification of music, classification of Ragas, different Gharanas, etc. Candidtaes also learn about history of music, evolution of notation systems, forms of light music, electronic performances and other related things. They get trained for live performances and concert singing through practical sessions and live experiences.
The course includes both theory as well as practical sessions to enable better learning and to build up the confidence level in candidates.
