Introduction to the Course
Painting is a creative form of expression which results from both act and action. Painting is the art of applying paint , pigment or colour to a solid surface using a brush. The other materials or implements used for painting are sponges, knives, and airbrushes. Painting depicts creative expression. They can be naturalistic, representative, abstract, narrative, photographic, emotive, political or symbolic.
Eligibility for the course
Candidates who have completed their 10+2 class from a recognized university can apply for the course. The course requires students to posses analytical skills and work systematically with others. Students should possess interest in learning painting.
Syllabus of the Course
The study includes introduction to drawing, meaning and definition, photography, sculpture, critical and reflective practices, painting signs, presentations, exhibitions, dissertation, live projects and digital portfolio. The course enables students to explore the practices of using oil, acrylic paints and other artistic materials.
Description of the Course
B.A painting is a three year course. It provides students for long history of rich inspiration in painting. The course exposes them to culture, history and contemporary painting. Students learn various forms of painting such as impressions, floral, expressionist, abstract, acrylic, realistic, people and portraits, landscape, dance , music etc. The program includes tutorials, group discussions, seminars, cross course critiques and studio environment. The course covers large area of methods and practices involved in painting. They would be trained in practical workshops and exposed to demonstrations by artists. The study involves students to access workshops in varied arenas of print making and photography. Students need to participate in film and moving images through digital facilities. The program trains the students in critical appreciation and theoretical understanding of fine art practices. The program focuses on developing the lateral thinking and creativity with new ideas in the field of fine arts. The Students would be equipped with the knowledge of conducting exhibition in collaboration with their peers. They would be trained in installation of paintings and artworks.

Graduates can further undergo their post graduation in painting. They find placements in institutions, galleries, studios, workshops, museums, theatres, etc. Qualified students also can take up painting as a teaching profession.
