Introduction
M.A. or Master of Arts in Fine Arts is a masters degree or a Post Graduation degree in fine arts course. The course focuses on different art forms developed for aesthetic and practical applications. It prepares the candidates to have a professional involvement in creative industries. Candidates are also allowed to pursue research and study the theory of fine arts and get better understanding about their own work and field of contemporary art practice.
The course includes various individual studio practice sessions, lectures, master classes, seminars and some one to one tutorials.
Eligibility
This course requires candidates holding bachelor's degree or graduation degree in same or related field. So candidates holding B.A. in Fine Arts, Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A), etc are eligible for this course. Graduation must be completed from a registered institute and the minimum qualifying marks varied from one institute to another and need to be checked before submission of application.
Admission Procedure
Admissions can be finalized in three ways- Direct on first come and first serve basis, On merit basis where candidates are short listed on the basis of their grades in graduation and last is through entrance examinations.
Candidates need to submit the duly filled application form before last date of submissions and then they need to follow the further instructions mentioned in the prospectus of selected institute.
Duration
The duration for this course is 2 years which are divided into 4 semesters in some institutes. Theses semesters are having 6 months duration.
Further Study options
After successfully completing the Post graduation, interested candidates can pursue M.Phil and then PhD. in Fine Arts. These are research based course without age restriction. Candidates can pursue the same as per their professional requirement or interest.
Course Highlights
The course includes both theory as well as practical sessions. The theory part includes study about history of Indian Architecture, identification of various art objects, different Stylistic analysis, history of Indian Painting, history of Indian Sculptures, etc.
Then the course teaches about Principles and sources of Arts, history of western art, history of modern movements in art in India, Europe and U.S.A.
The Practical sessions includes Drawing and painting classes.
