Introduction
M.D. is Doctor of Medicine and it is a post-graduate level course in Medical line. It can be pursued in any branch of medicine and Yoga and Rehabilitation is one among them. M.D. in Yoga and Rehabilitation deals with Yoga and its different therapies used for rehabilitation purposes. The course includes both theory and practical sessions for better understanding.
Candidates learn about origin and history of Yoga, its contribution in medicine, about rehabilitation, ways of treating it and many more.
This course needs to be attended on regular basis and part-time mode is not available for this.
Eligibility
Being a postgraduate degree, it requires Graduate degree holders in the medical line. Candidates who have successfully completed their M.B.B.S degree from a recognized and registered institute are eligible for this course. The minimum qualifying marks may vary from one institute to another and need to be checked before application submission. The age criteria need also to be checked.
Admission Procedure
Admissions are not easy for this course. Interested candidates can submit their application enclosed with all the other required document copes before the last date. The institutes conduct their entrance test and candidates performing well in that will get shortlisted for admission.
Some institutes may also conduct interview sessions for further screening.
Duration
The total duration of the course is 3 years (6 semesters). The first 2 years (4 semesters) are for studies and the last 1 year (2 semesters) is for practicing. Candidates get clinical posting for training in their last year of the course.
Further Study options
After successful completion of this course, candidates are ready to work at the professional level but if still wants to study further, some short-term course in the related subject can be pursued like Post Graduate Diploma in naturopathy, yoga and holistic health, etc.

The course includes yoga medicine, Rehabilitation medicine, various research methodologies, details about Vedas, Darshanas, Upanishads, biostatistics, Scientific writing, etc in theoretical part. Candidates also learn about Various Yoga Asanas and meditations through theory and practical sessions.
The latter part of the course includes study about Nutrition and Dietetics, psychophysiology of Yoga, demonstration of psychophysiological tools and assessments, etc.

These candidates become doctor by title and profession. They can work in hospitals (private or government), in clinics, rehabilitation centers, etc.
Being experts in Yoga, they can also work in Yoga centers, sports clubs and can even start their own yoga center if their interest allows them.
