Eligibility and course duration
A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or other similar qualification with at least 50% marks in aggregate. Selections for the post graduate program are based on your performance in GATE or other similar entrance tests conducted by the respective institute.

ME Internal Combustion Engineering focuses on designing, developing and manufacturing of the internal combustion engines. You get a firsthand understanding about how the IC engine works and the principle of its operation. With concerns about the environment rising every other day, there is an increased focus on pollution control, fuel efficiency and alternate modes of fuel such as bio-diesel. You get to learn about designing and developing the engines and their various accessories on the design board and by using advanced software packages like LAB VIEW, MATLAB, ANSYS and others. One also gets to learn and understand the various standards concerning the internal combustion engine, both designing standards as well as those concerning pollution and fuel efficiency. You also learn about the various applications of the IC engine such as automobiles and the power generating sector. Diesel power units that work on the principle of IC engine are still a formidable source of electrical power for our industries and at locations where there are no grids.
