Introduction
M.E. or Master of Engineering is a post graduation course in the technical field. M.E. in Environmental Engineering is a sub-branch of civil engineering which teaches about science and engineering principals in the process of natural environment improvement. Candidates learn about ozone depletion, automobile emissions, global warming, acid rain, etc and ways to reduce their effects. The course includes all the different factors of our environment like air, water, land, various habitations, etc.
The main focus of the course in on the topics like fundamental hydrology, environmental chemistry, modeling of contaminant fate, ground and surface water transportation.
Eligibility
Candidates holding Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Technology degree in Environmental engineering specialization are eligible for this course. Some institutes also accept candidates from other specialization after validating their knowledge about the course. The Bachelor course must have been pursued from a recognized institutes and candidates must have secured 55% or higher marks as aggregate to become eligible for this course.
Admission Procedure
Admissions requires submission of duly filled application form before the last date. The form must be completed in all term like other documents, an application fee in prescribed format, etc. Most of the reputed institutes conduct an entrance test to shortlist the deserving candidates for admissions and candidates performing well in that get shortlisted for the course.
Duration
The duration is 2 years of this course. These 2 years are equivalent o 4 semesters; each having 6-month duration.
Further Study options
After successful completion of this course, candidates can enroll for Ph.D. to pursue their higher studies. It is a doctoral degree through which candidates get a chance to conduct research on the topic of their interest after getting approval from their supervisor. There is no age restriction for this course in most of the institutes.
