Eligibility and course duration
Class 10th or high school pass. Duration of the course may range from 6 months to a year, depending upon the institute and content of the course. The program is available on-campus as well as through distance mode.

Here in this course you will be learning the basics of surface ornamentation techniques like dyeing and printing that are applied on textiles and fabrics. You learn about the influence of dyeing and printing in the fashion world and how they help in adding a splash of colour to our clothes. You will also learn about the types of dyeing methods that are practiced in the textile industry. Some of these dyeing methods are natural dyeing, direct dyeing and yarn dyeing. Similarly, you get to study the history of printing and how it originated in countries like India, China and Egypt. You get to understand how wooden blocks with designs engraved in them were used for block printing by using natural dyes obtained mostly from plants and animals. Presently the textile industry uses stencils with patterns cut into them to get the printing done. Among some of the printing methods that you get to learn are block printing, roller printing and screen printing. You also learn printing various kinds of embroidery designs and patterns.
